Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty in Annapolis by working individually with youth and their families while also addressing the systemic issues leading to poverty and inequities in the first place.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4A

In fy25, 96 of engaged parents/caregivers set and achieved at least one personal or family goal. The elementary program grades 2-5 met weekly, with additional programming for 5th-grade scholars to support the transition to middle school. Programming included evidence-based tutoring mentoring wellness physical activity early college and career exposure and mental health skill-building. Scholars received individualized academic support and access to trained counselors, culturally responsive materials, and ongoing family engagement. Staff worked closely with scholars and caregivers to establish and monitor academic and personal goals. Once in 6th grade, scholars transition into the middle school program, which met twice weekly after school and focused on mental health promotion substance use and violence prevention relationship-building community engagement and college and career readiness. Scholars participated in monthly one-on-one mentoring and enrichment opportunities, including college visits and cultural and recreational field trips. More than 280 students participated in charting careers career day at annapolis middle school during the program year. The high school and postsecondary programs provided continued individualized mentoring, mental health support, college visits, and weekly college and career readiness instruction. Scholars received professional advising related to college applications, financial aid, scholarships, and career planning. Quarterly family engagement events supported caregivers throughout the high school and postsecondary transition. In fy25, charting careers awarded approximately 37.869 in scholarships to scholars across grade levels, including college scholarships for high school and postsecondary scholars and summer camp and enrichment scholarships for elementary and middle school scholars. The organization celebrated its first two four-year college graduates, both of whom began participating in charting careers during middle school.

The organization is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501c3 of the internal revenue code. The organization is, however, subject to tax on business income unrelated to the organizations exempt purpose. No provision for income taxes is reflected in the accompanying financial statements for the years ended june 30, 2025 and 2024, since the organization has no taxable income from unrelated business activities. The organizations informational filings are subject to audit by the internal revenue service, generally for three years after filing.
