Mission and Program Overview

Mission

COMPP is a non-profit member based trade association where the members work on a cooperative basis to support fully robust, transparent, independent, nondiscriminatory wholesale energy, capacity and ancillary services markets in the region operated by the MidContinent Independent Transmision System Operator. Members strive to create a "level playing field" focusing on market design as the market continues to evolve given the anticipated changes in the generation portfolio mix by 2030.

Attended approximately 80 stakeholder meetings at MISO on behalf of COMPP membership in an advocacy role focused on the continued development and support of fully robust wholesale energy and capacity markets.--
In January 2025, COMPP filed an intervention at the FERC in support of MidContinent ISO's (MISO) filing revising the Value of Lost Load (VOLL) and Operating Reserve Demand Curve (ORDC) in Docket ER25-579-000. Note: The actual filing was made in November, 2024 and COMPP's legal team worked on the filing in late 2024 even though the filing itself was not made until early 2025.--
In October 2024, COMPP filed an intervention and protest to a FERC filing in Docket No. EL24-148-000 where the Sierra Club et al had filed a Section 206 complaint undermining the PJM Capacity Markets Base Residual Auction (BRA) where the Complainants sought to force capacity resources on Reliability Must Run contracts to participate in the BRA.--
