We use a place led approach to create a profitable neighborhood development and housing master plan. We are committed to following a community-driven process to connect two distinct neighborhoods. This approach will leverage the assets of each to build one growing community. The power of placemaking is demonstrated by forging community partnerships and collaborations countering community skepticism, ensuring neighborhood maintenance and sustainability. We organize, empower and involve residents and community partners currently separated by the Inner Loop to create a cohesive neighborhood using an engaged, transparent and inclusive planning process for executing the Inner Loop North plan. Our values of community, communication, creation, compassion & equity will guide this work. The result will be an interconnected community of residents and business owners working together to create and sustain a thriving neighborhood.

| Composer's Crossing was a sidewalk activation project during the Jazz Fest. We activated one strip of the sidewalk to create music while people crossed it. It created a community sprit around the Jazz Fest and all types of people had fun creating music, dancing across the street and watching others just have fun. We collaborated with RIT professor to create the softwood and with community members who painted and revived the sidewalk. Shawn was paid a curating fee for developing the idea and managing the painting and then being at the crossing to encourage our community to join together in using it. State Senator Jeremy Cooney sponsored this project. This sidewalk has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and is used by Eastman School as part of their use of the neighborhood. | $0 | $5,000 |
| Marketview Mews: Placemaking initiatives serve as catalysts for community building and neighborhood connectivity. By aligning with the Rochester 2034 Comprehensive Plan, particularly focusing on pedestrian-friendly designs, creating aesthetically pleasing spaces, and bolstering multi-modal travel, we intend to create vibrant, inclusive environments that celebrate local assets and strengthen neighborhood ties. While we are waiting for the Inner Loop North Project to unfold over the next 2 years, it is essential to keep our neighbors involved and aware of the project. The Marketview Mews Project is designed to do just that while activating Bohrer Alley which presently is unsafe, harbors people who are engaged in illegal activities, encourages speeding traffic, and unhealthy dumping. We will create awareness and clean up the alley influencing the City, owners and landlords, especially Pathstone and Rochester Health Authority to do their duty for the residents whose properties border on the alley. We will install solar lighting to increase safety. We will encourage and educate residents on advocating for themselves, and will provide beautifiction, using local artists, visioning and programming on the alley while we explore opportunities for housing initiatives and buillding a community fruit garden on a vacant lot next to the alley. The alley activation project has a budget of $103,400 and we are asking ESL Foundation to fund 50% of that. | $0 | $4,426 |
