We use a place led approach to create a profitable neighborhood development and housing master plan. We are committed to following a community-driven process to connect two distinct neighborhoods. This approach will leverage the assets of each to build one growing community. The power of placemaking is demonstrated by forging community partnerships and collaborations countering community skepticism, ensuring neighborhood maintenance and sustainability. We organize, empower and involve residents and community partners currently separated by the Inner Loop to create a cohesive neighborhood using an engaged, transparent and inclusive planning process for executing the Inner Loop North plan. Our values of community, communication, creation, compassion & equity will guide this work. The result will be an interconnected community of residents and business owners working together to create and sustain a thriving neighborhood.

| Live on the Loop:Celebratory closing of the Scio Street Bridge to show the neighborhoods how reconnection might feel. We built picnic tables, benches and planters to demonstrate how the connection would look and feel. We worked with students to paint the benches and picnic tables. We produced a film to capture this demonstration and worked to show how connection feels. There was music from both worlds, gospel, classic, salsa and more. There was dancing, grassy areas on the bridge so families could play and see plans for the fill in. Local politicians came in to support. After the celebration, the fruit trees, benches and picnic tables were distributed into the neighborhood to improve quality of life! | $0 | $32,210 |
| Workshops and Mapping:Key to the Inner Loop North is getting residents and institutions involved in the planning and having their voices heard. We worked on getting the hard to reach to come to meetings to learn how to voice their opinions and to learn what was happening. We designed workshops on zoning, planning and design so that residents would understand the vocabulary of this project, and held 4 workshop sessions and 2 mapping sessions to come up with the land use map for the infill and the adjacent neighborhood. The map was used to influence the outcome of the feasibility study and was included in the City of Rochester's final feasibility report. | $0 | $20,734 |
| Composers' Crossing 2.0:We repainted the piano keys at the intersection of Main and Gibbs and activated the keys to produce music. The neighborhood was activated by volunteers coming to paint - from families to Freedom Riders. We could demonstrate that art brings out the curiosity in people and engages them in the community. People danced on the keys to produce music and Hinge Neighbors was recognized for community building. It is a way to keep the neighborhoods involved in this long process of filling in the inner loop north. | $0 | $12,484 |
