Prior to the filing of any tax return, a review copy is given to all current board members for review and discussion. An approval is requested from the Board Members.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Power House Incorporated has established a Conflict of Interest Policy to ensure that the Organizations decision-making process remain transparent, impartial, and free form personal or financial influence. This policy requires all board members, officers and key employees to act in the best interests of the organization while performing their duties and to disclose any relationships or activities that could pose a potential conflict. Each board member and officer is required to review and sign the policy annually, acknowledging their responsibility to disclose any potential conflicts. If a potential conflict arises, the individual must fully disclose it to the Board, which will evaluate the situation to determine whether a conflict exists and take appropriate action to manage or resolve it. This helps maintain trust and integrity within the organization and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations. The policy outlines procedures for identifying and addressing conflicts, maintaining records of disclosures and implementing measures to mitigate conflicts to safeguard the Organizations mission and operations.

The process for determining the compensation of the Organizations top management officials includes review and approval by independent members of the governing body. This process involves obtaining and considering data for similar positions in comparable organizations and ensuring the decision-making process is documented. The Organization conducts periodic compensation studies to benchmark salaries against industry standards and ensure reasonable and fair compensation practices.In accordance with the California nonprofit integrity act, the board of directors will engage in additional reviews of the executive compensation prior to any increase in salary or change to benefits.

IRS990/Desc0In 2024, Power House experienced transformative growth and momentum. We hosted our first fundraising event in the spring. The evening of comedy and philanthropy was a tremendous success, surpassing our $100,000 goal through generous community support. With these gifts, Power House was able to hire two full-time staff members, recruit new Board of Director Members and Strategic Advisors, and officially join the Sober Living Network. Power House also hosted a dynamic Think Tank event with key supporters and advisors to strategize a sustainable future for the organization. Power House strengthened its operational resilience by increasing insurance coverage, and implementing vital internal systems including an electronic shared drive, automatic invoicing, and payroll. Power House external communications improved with the launch of regular newsletters and a new, fully upgraded website.Enhanced governance and increased transparency were prioritized in 2024. The Board approved a comprehensive three-year strategic plan and adopted several essential policies, procedures, and protocols. Power House earned a Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid, formerly Guidestar. Financial stewardship and oversight were further reinforced with Power Houses contracts with a professional bookkeeper and a Certified Public Accountant specializing in nonprofit management.
