Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
The Kynock Foundation funded 4 separate Kynock Immersion trips for two of our education partners in 2024. In these trips, the Kynock Foundation worked with our partners from beginning to end to ensure all needs are met. The Foundation will take care of purchasing and distributing tickets. In 2024, more than 125 students benefited from the program. The following are the trip details: Esperanza Academy from Lawrence, Mass. to see "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Strand Theater in Dorchester; New Heights Charter School of Brockton, Mass. to see "Second Star to the Right" at Emerson College; New Heights Charter School of Brockton, Mass. to see "A Wrinkle in Time" at the Wheelock Family Theater; and Esperanza Academy from Lawrence, Mass. to see the Alvin Ailey Dance Company at the Wang Theater in Boston.$1,518$0
Each year, the Foundation supports a scholarship for a student who displays leadership in the Arts at Boston College High School. Kevin Kynock, the organization's namesake, taught at BC High for four decades. A Kynock Scholar not only excels in music, theater or Fine Arts, but is committed to sharing their passions with his fellow students and helping them develop their own commitment to the Arts.$1,000$0
Kevin Kynock was a devoted follower of the Bard. He spent time as a fellow at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Each fall at Boston College High School, he staged a Shakespearean play for his theater students. With their ability to have large casts and few female roles, they were an ideal inclusive introduction to theater each year. When Kevin passed away in 2007, a group of his former students pooled their money to put Kevin's name in the program. Today, the Kynock Foundation continues that tradition by making a donation to the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company to support its youth apprenticeship programs.$1,000$0
The Kynock Foundation believes a single experience with the arts can create an interest and passion that will last a lifetime. Our artist-in-residence visits are designed to bring artists of all kinds to schools where we can turn classrooms into artistic spaces for a day. In 2024, our Foundation ran two pilot programs at two separate education partners. The programs were attended by more than 175 students in total in 2024. In October, we brought a young Latina poet from Lynn, Mass. to do a reading during Hispanic Heritage Month at the Community Charter School of Cambridge. In November, we invited two professional Salsa dancers from Boston to Esperanza Academy in Lawrence for a Salsa dancing workshop.$520$0
