Mission

Balancing permanent affordability, equity building, and neighborhood stability, Interboro CLT supports New Yorkers and strengthens communities through the development and stewardship of permanently affordable homes for ownership by low-income households across the five boroughs of New York City.

The Corporation is formed exclusively for the purpose of developing and supporting one or more housing projects to service Persons of Low Income, through its ownership and stewardship of the land beneath rental subprojects and homeownership subprojects.

IRS990/Desc0In 2020, Interboro acquired its first distressed property as part of its preservation program, helping a low-income family avoid foreclosure and preserve their occupancy, homeownership, and primary wealth-building asset. Also in 2020, Interboro hired a project coordinator, its first full-time staff member. In the coming year, one of the CLTs founding partners plans to acquire three distressed properties and, after rehabbing them, will place them on the CLT as permanently affordable homeownership opportunities for low-income homebuyers. In addition, Interboro plans to use its preservation program to help another distressed homeowner avoid foreclosure and in the process will add another property to the CLT. Interboro expects the number of permanently-affordable homeownership units placed in its pipeline by its founding partners to expand to more than 500 by the end of 2021.
