Animal Hope in Legislation

“The dog and cat meat trade prohibition act. Our organization, in conjunction with others, initiated the creation of h.r. 1406, titled the dog and cat meat trade prohibition act. The act was introduced on march 8, 2017 by congressman alcee hastings (d-fl20). The law passed in december 2018 as part of the federal farm bill. The act prevents any person from knowingly shipping, transporting, moving, delivering, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling or donating dog or cat parts for human consumption”

“Los angeles fur ban. Through the implementation of this program, our organization drafted and successfully lobbied for legislation that would ban the sale and manufacture of new fur products in the city of los angeles. The legislation prohibits businesses located in the city of los angeles from selling fur products including clothing, hats, handbags or keychains, with exemptions for used fur. The city council passed this legislation with unanimous votes in february 2019”

“Ab 44 california ban on the manufacture and sale of fur products. Through this iniative we drafted legislation and lobbied for the passage of a ban on the sale of fur products similar that of the los angeles ordinance which extended to toys and housewares in addition to accessories and apparel. Assembly bill 44 was introducted into the legislature in october of 2018 and signed by governor newsome in october 2019”
