“A draft of the 990 is provided to each member of the board of directors for their review and input.”
“All board members sign an acknowledgement annually that they have received the conflict of interest policy and agree to its terms. The president asks if there are any conflicts of interest at the outset of each board meeting. In addition, periodic reviews are conducted that include the following subjects: 1) whether compensation arrangements and benefits are reasonable, based on competent survey information, and the result of arm's length bargaining; 2) whether partnerships, joint ventures, and arrangements with management organizations conform to the organization's written policies, are properly recorded, reflect reasonable investment or payments for good and services, further charitable purposes and do not result in inurement, impermissible private benefit or in an excess benefit transaction.”
“The board of directors votes on the executive director's compensation after evaluating performance, experience and skills, and benchmarking using independent salary surveys.”

“Over the past fiscal year, peaks to people worked to protect water resources in the cache la poudre and big thompson watersheds from the threat of wildfire. We supported forest health projects to protect important drinking water sources, and scoped additional projects to be funded in the next fiscal year. We convened the big thompson watershed health partnership and we are coordinating this collaborative group to increase the pace and scale of work in the watershed. We continued our partnership with the colorado forest restoration institute to further develop the science in the field to ensure funds are allocated to the most effective forest management projects and to continuously-improved methods for forest restoration. Through our website, blogging and social media, we educated the public about the importance of wildfire mitigation and water resources.”
