Both the community center and foundation are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the u.s. Internal revenue code, and thus are exempt from income taxes. Gifts, grants and bequests are deductible by donors within limitation of the internal revenue code. The organization evaluates its tax positions based on whether or not the position is more likely than not to be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. This evaluation includes monitoring changes in tax law and new authoritative ruling for potential implications to its tax status.
