Villagesokc, inc is organized exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of section 501 (c) (3) of the internal revenue code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. More specifically, the corporation is organized to help mature adults age 50+ stay independent and in their homes as long as possible by providing appropriate education and services through volunteers, by helping senior adults and others find acceptable vendors to provide services to them and by providing or facilitating such other activities and programs which reduce vulnerability, isolation and empower the individual to make the best personal choices. Villages continues to empower adults to age with vitality and purpose by focusing on four keys: learn, plan, serve, & connect. Programming continues to be developed around these.

“Learning/planning/serving/connecting a.positive aging: in partnership with metro technology centers, villagesokc held two day long (10a-2p) educational events with presentations by local healthcare providers. Each event drew about 70 attendees and vendors. B.senior lifeskills learning seminars were held monthly. These free open to the public 90 minute seminars were offered at edmond's ymca mitch park and in north oklahoma city at our lords lutheran church. Bi-monthly similar events were held at metro fit on the campus of metro technology springlake campus. These were free to attendees with an average attendance of 40 at each. C.iphone and android workshops were offered as monthly 90 minute workshop sessions for villagesokc members. Class size was limed to 12 -16 per session in order to offer individualized instruction. D.the gift workshop (gathering information for transitions) were hosted by businesses, retirement communities, insurance agencies and banks. Legend assisted living hosted gift workshops in three of their locations. We continued offering a local guest professional in each session allowing attendees to ask questions of the attorney, nurse, real estate or funeral professional. E.healthcare forms workshops were offered three times each year offering an opportunity for an attorney/nurse to explain the forms. Attendees, if they choose, can have the forms witness and notarized within the 90 minute session. F.navigating medicare - to provide needed information about medicare and social security, vokc partnered with the leading medicare educators in the metro, navigating medicare. They provided monthly education and a designated professional to meet with vokc members. G.empowering independence podcast began a series of podcasts with a mature adult host, a younger generation co-host interviewing a local guest. The purpose of the podcast was to educate and empower, providing resources to those 50+ and their families.”
“Serving/volunteer participation a. Vietnam veteran pinning held the final veteran recognition and pinning ceremony at the oklahoma history center with 150 in attendance. This was for those who had served during the vietnam era. B. Senior games initiated meetings with ymca, metrofit and vokc to coalesce and communicate information about the senior games held at state fair in september. C. Top golf- held vokc first fundraiser which was also opportunity to gather and volunteer with the business community. D. Served on state council on aging as governors representative. This provided opportunities for vokc members to participate in senior day at the capitol. E. Served on advisory committee for the oklahomas multi-sector plan on aging. This is the states 10 year plan called aging our way. This plan seeks unite the public and private sectors with education and services so all oklahomans can develop their own plan for aging. F. Ministerial luncheon- provided volunteers for bott radio ministerial luncheon reaching 200 ministers across the metro. G. Collaborated with concordia community foundation and concordia life plan community developing a joint brochure, lifematters, offered at lunch and learns to businesses and employee groups with the purpose of connecting them to information available in the community. H. Volunteer time: totals 2,752 hours at a value of 34.79 per hour. Villagesokc contributed a dollar value equivalent of 95,742.08.”
“Activites a. Coffee meetups ladies coffee provides monthly small group discussion about a topic of interest often including a brief speaker and presentation. This offers a safe place for prospects to get acquainted in a small group setting. The mens coffees is more organic and resulted in a member-led fishing trip to lake texoma. B. Monthly connections newsletter and okc senior community calendar interactive monthly event calendar are sent and maintained on line. C. Game night monthly, restaurant meet-up, and socials at member homes have increased member participation and social interaction. D. Monthly participation as an educational partner with the senior living truth series and time for living seminars. Both are community partners offering free monthly presentations, educating and empowering mature adults. This partnership offers an opportunity to connect with prospects, highlight gift workshops and continue to increase our visibility as the one place to start when making life-decisions after 50. E. Weekly communication and visibility in okc friday newspaper with wiseelder column. Monthly featured in senior news and living and frequently featured in other local area newspapers. F. To further extend visibility and outreach, villagesokc provided the volunteer force for registration and support in the 2024 second half expo at the national cowboy and western heritage museum. At this one-day expo, villagesokc volunteers contributed to the overall success, with 1,200 attendees and 110 sponsors. G. Held member appreciation at chicken n pickle.”
