“The second national trauma journalism symposium was held on september 21- 22, 2023 at franklin college in ?franklin, indiana that focused on helping journalists to provide better coverage of traumatic news stories and to take better care of themselves when they do report on such painful events. The two-day experience featured journalists, communications professionals, mental health professionals and people who have been part of traumatic news stories. The discussion were aimed at helping journalists tend to their own mental health and to approach their work with greater insight and sensitivity. Additionally the trust for trauma journalism hosted the "trauma-informed journalism in a time of chaos: preparing for when things fall apart", held on september 14-15, 2023 at syracuse university, in the newhouse school for communications. The two-day event was presented to empower newhouse journalism students to ethically and professionally navigate traumatic events.”
