| IRS990ScheduleA/FactsAndCircumstancesTestTxt | 0 | Our organization, Building Blocks in Africa, qualifies as a public charity under the 10% Facts-and-Circumstances Test. Over the past five years, 29.8% of our total support came from public sources, including foundations, businesses and over 120 individual donors. The majority of fundraising is done by direct contact with donors, social media campaigns, and email. We post an annual newsletter on our website and send directly to our donors via email to show how funds are used and request continued donations. We have a monthly donor program for those willing to sign up for automatic donations. In 2024, 99% of expenditures went to funding projects and eduction sponsorship in Ghana and Kenya. The remaining 1% went to administrative costs. All board members volunteer their time and receive no compensation or benefits. Overall impact of Building Blocks in Africa: 300+ students supported at the school built in Ghana. 22 permanent jobs created at the school in Ghana, 4 jobs created at the bakery and 2 jobs at the cocoa farm (sustainability projects for the home and school in Ghana), 2 permanent jobs as well as several quarterly garden harvest jobs created at the school in Kenya that is currently being constructed. Over 30 construction related jobs supported in Ghana and Kenya. All building and classroom materials were purchased by vendors local to Kenya and Ghana. Over 30 orphans have been supported by the home and school in Ghana as well as the education sponsorship funds that provide them with secondary or technical education. These factors show Building Blocks in Africa operates with broad public support and involvement, qualifying us as a public charity under section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi). |
