DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Hurricane Harvey disaster relief. We served nearly 16,000 meals over a 5 day period of time. The night Harvey hit Port Aransas Dr. Ireland and I loaded up the Chevy Tahoe with 27 cases of water, 10 gallons of fuel, a generator and a chainsaw and drove as far into the strom as we could - which was Matagorda County. We delivered aide and supplies to the Matagorda County Sherrif's office, directly to the EOC. We briefly advised the EOC on the status of the roads and supply lines between Houston and Matagorda County, including status of power and communications systems before driving back to Houston. Simultaneously, the Red Cross refused to cross flooded waters and Blerk provided aide transport of medical supplies in and out of flooded territory. Dr. Ireland worked with EOC officials at the local and county level to establish distaster relief and evacuation strategies for categorization of shelter customers - expediting citizens return to home or advancing to long term shelter care.$1,065$0
Hurricane Irma Relief. Post Harvey and pre-Irma, Blerk worked quickly to establish a mobile medical disaster clinic and registered with the State of Flordia to provide disaster relief and aide in advance of Irma. Blerk deployed to Milton, Florida to the emergency operations center as Irma hit the Florida Keys. Blerk was dispatched by Florida Emergency Logistics to Fisherman's Hospital on Marathon as the facility was unusable. While stationed in Marathon, Blerk provided communications and logistical aid to the United States Coast Guard, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, and Florida Fish and Game. Blerk also provided medical aid and support to citizens of Marathon that refused to evacuate in advance of the storm. Blerk also provided logistical expertise and resource mapping for the florida keys by identifying communities of need through advance recon of the keys. Once federal aid arrived, Blerk withdrew.$500$0
Hurricane Maria Relief. lerk's mission of boots on the ground, systemic logistical aide continued with Maria. Blerk traveled to Puerto Rico, St. Kitts, Nevis, Dominica, and St. Martin to advance boots on the ground giving and logistical recon.$500$0
Blerk toured and provided aide to the following areas: Matagorda County, League City, Dickenson, Texas City, Port Aransas, Rockport, Marathon, San Juan Puerto Rico, St. Kitss, Nevis, Dominica, and St. Martin. Blerk seeks to increase it's logistical capabilities of long term search and rescue and disaster relief efforts through the acquisition of a recon aircraft (Cessna 337) and a rescue boat (diesel powered aluminum jet boat), in addition to a diesel powered all purpose mule.$0$0
