“Community composting program. This program offers education and services to community members so they can recycle food scraps through composting instead of sending food scraps to waste in the landfill. The program has expanded to a total of 12 community food scrap recovery sites, and includes custom services for community groups, non-profit organizations, businesses and schools. Over 200,000 pounds of food scraps have been diverted from the landfill to date and dozens of new community partnerships and initiatives for composting that have come into action through this work. There continues to be good participation with this program, serving a seasonal range of 150 residents throughout the year.”
“Outreach & education program. This program offers outreach and education to community members through in-person and online classes,training, consultation and outreach and education events. In the last year, we have offered education programs to adult community groups, neighborhood associations, youth focused organizations, businesses, non-profits and schools. We reached an additional 500 people about the benefits of and how to compost through this program.”
“International compost awareness week initiative: this week-long, nationally recognized week and initiative helps us amplify compost awareness in our region, bringing classes, speakers, messaging and minds together to celebrate and learn more about the local and international composting movement.”

THE PROGRAM HAS EXPANDED TO A TOTAL OF 12 COMMUNITY FOOD SCRAP RECOVERY SITES, AND INCLUDES CUSTOM SERVICES FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, BUSINESSES AND SCHOOLS. OVER 200,000 POUNDS OF FOOD SCRAPS HAVE BEEN DIVERTED FROM THE LANDFILL TO DATE AND DOZENS OF NEW COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS AND INITIATIVES FOR COMPOSTING THAT HAVE COME INTO ACTION THROUGH THIS WORK. THERE CONTINUES TO BE GOOD PARTICIPATION WITH THIS PROGRAM, SERVING A SEASONAL RANGE OF 150 RESIDENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. |
