Members of the Board of Directors annually acknowledge that they have received and reviewed the organizations conflict of interest policy and agree to comply with it. Board members disclose potential conflicts and recuse themselves from deliberations or votes when appropriate. The board also reviews compensation arrangements and organizational partnerships annually to ensure compliance with the policy.

In determining compensation, the board reviews comparability data including publicly available nonprofit salary data, compensation information reported on Forms 990 of similarly sized nonprofit organizations in comparable geographic regions, and salary benchmarking information from sources such as Salary.com. The board also considers internal compensation structure and ratios relative to nonprofit sector benchmarks. Individuals with potential conflicts of interest do not participate in the deliberation or vote. The boards discussion and decision are documented in the meeting minutes.
