In 2024, cyberhawaii continued its partnership with the hawaii dept of business, economic development & tourism and the military affairs council of the chamber of commerce of hawaii to successfully complete a series of webinars focused on raising awareness related to cybersecurity threats and how businesses could improve their defenses. Cyberhawaii also partnered with the u.s. Department of homeland security's cybersecurity & infrastructure security agency (cisa) to hold monthly educational sessions that described specific security principles such as access management, encryption and secure by design. These sessions were also aimed at improving the cyber resilience of local hawaii businesses. Cyberhawaii also partnered with the fbi's honolulu office to deliver training on the "united against hate" program which educated businesses about the difference between hate speech and hate crimes. For the second year in a row, cyberhawaii was the exclusive sponsor for the hawaii cybersecurity conference. This 1.5 day conference, held on the university of hawaii's manoa and west oahu campuses, brought federal and state agencies such as the fbi, cisa, ncis, secret service, coast guard and hawaii office of homeland security together to share information on emerging cyber threats. Cyberhawaii did not charge admission to any of the events and webinars it sponsored. Because of the importance of the military to hawaii, cyberhawaii presented on the regulatory requirements related to the dod's cybersecurity maturity model certification (cmmc) program and what hawaii businesses need to do to comply with it. Presentations were given at the pbx hawaii engineering & construction conference as well as the afcea pacific technet conference. Cyberhawaii also participated in the us indo-pacom critical infrastructure cybersecurity workshop. Cyberhawaii coordinated a meeting under the u.s. State department's international visitors' leadership program (ivlp) with officials from japan related to workforce development efforts in hawaii. Cyberhawaii was an active member of the hawaii office of homeland security's cybersecurity working group that developed the statewide cybersecurity strategy an workforce development plan. Cyberhawaii started up the intergenerational learning project in conjunction with uh's dr. Cullen hayashida whose goal is to demonstrate that kupuna can remain active contributors in the community well into their retirement years.
