“We have a conflict-of-interest policy that is signed by new board members when they join and reviewed once a year. The policy indicates that board members recuse themselves from any votes that would affect themselves or any organizations they have any affiliations. Board members are asked to provide a list and identify all of their affiliated organizations when they sign the conflict of interest policy and are asked to provide any updates when they occur. In our subgrantee review process, we ask all subgrantee reviewers to identify if they are affiliated or know the organization applying for the grant. If they identify that they have a strong affiliation with the organization, they have recused themselves from voting.”
