“PART III, LINE 4-A PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS-Thrive broke ground on the Walnut and Daisy Microfarm (Project)in 2023 and still in construction in 2024. All American Construction was hired as the general contractor of the project. Construction commenced in Fall of 2023. Thrive also partnered with, Cooperacion Santa Ana facilitated the implementation of the Walnut-Daisy Urban Farm through funding from the California Economic Development Departments Community Economic Resilience Fund (CERF). The purpose of this initiative was to support economic recovery and equity in Santa Ana by piloting a community-driven model of land development, supporting sustainable agriculture, and promoting economic empowerment for underserved workers and producers. Key components of the program included construction and management of an urban micro-farm, leadership development workshops, and community outreach. THRIVE Santa Ana oversaw construction and land stewardship activities while also organizing monthly educational workshops and pop-up marketplaces to enhance financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills among local farmers, producers, and cooperative members. The project is designed to support at least 100 community outreaches, 15 educational workshops, and 12 monthly markets, benefiting local residents and promoting job creation. A total of $2,408,891 was allocated for this initiative: up to $1,169,413 for construction, $852,000 for land acquisition, and $320,000 for program development and administration. Program milestones included utilities setup, facility maintenance, and a community opening celebration. The project also emphasizes compliance with 501(c)(3) restrictions on lobbying and political activities.”

All American Construction was hired as the general contractor of the project. Construction commenced in Fall of 2023. Thrive also partnered with, Cooperacion Santa Ana facilitated the implementation of the Walnut-Daisy Urban Farm through funding from the California Economic Development Departments Community Economic Resilience Fund (CERF). The purpose of this initiative was to support economic recovery and equity in Santa Ana by piloting a community-driven model of land development, supporting sustainable agriculture, and promoting economic empowerment for underserved workers and producers. Key components of the program included construction and management of an urban micro-farm, leadership development workshops, and community outreach. THRIVE Santa Ana oversaw construction and land stewardship activities while also organizing monthly educational workshops and pop-up marketplaces to enhance financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills among local farmers, producers, and cooperative members. The project is designed to support at least 100 community outreaches, 15 educational workshops, and 12 monthly markets, benefiting local residents and promoting job creation. A total of $2,408,891 was allocated for this initiative: up to $1,169,413 for construction, $852,000 for land acquisition, and $320,000 for program development and administration. Program milestones included utilities setup, facility maintenance, and a community opening celebration. The project also emphasizes compliance with 501(c)(3) restrictions on lobbying and political activities. |
