We have created a platform of collaboration within the Veteran Service Space as we partner and team with hiring companies, educational institutions, and fellow veteran service organizations. In 2024 we continued our mission via our two types of events: MCTDs (Transition/Hiring) and MVEC (Coalition of Veteran Service Organizations) throughout North Carolina. We held MCTDs in the Spring and Fall at NC State University. We held MVECs in the Spring in Wilmington, NC (expansion to the coast) and in Raleigh at NC State (established annually now). | Military and Veteran Enablement Coalition MVEC: The 'Military and Veteran Enablement Coalition' is an invaluable part of the Platform we have built in which we work with organizations to sustain and build trusted relationships and thus ensure open communication, teamwork, and exposure of the resources each brings to the service of the MilVet members we all serve. This program includes the highlighting of the resources of each organization, inclusion of MVEC members at Whole Vet events whether in-person or virtually, support of events held by other members, and leadership in the further building of communications and relationships. Quite frankly, there is a lot of territorialism and lack of teamwork among veteran service organizations. MVEC overcomes that in order to present to the MilVet community a platform of resources in order to alleviate the confusion, clutter, and the very large number of resources that can overwhelm those we serve. The expansion of this program includes visibility in 2022 to the NC Veterans Council and in 2023 by holding one MVEC conference within North Carolina to showcase the work of many great Veteran Service Organizations across the state. In 2024, we expanded MVEC 'east' to Wilmington, NC. This expansion was a beautiful setting of collaboration or organizations and individuals in the coastal region of North Carolina. In addition, we once again held MVEC at NC State University in Raleigh, NC, just after Hurricane Helene had decimated western NC. The mood in the air was one of purpose and collaboration. It works. People meet. They work together, now it seems for years to come. | - | $16,107 |
| Military Career Transition Days MCTD: At our 'Transition Events', we have speaker panels made up of veterans and military spouses, keynote speakers, and career path exploration workshops in which we have in-depth discussions regarding what civilian careers truly look like. Furthermore, we have hiring companies, educational institutions, and fellow veteran service organizations in order for participants to network regarding career opportunities as well as to ensure they are familiar with the educational opportunities and resources provided by the organizations that are present. In 2017 and 2018, these events took place on Corporate campuses and thus aptly named 'Corporate Campus Visits'. We then expanded in 2019 to larger venues at community colleges, 4 year universities, and now on military bases. These events are titled 'Military Career Transition Days'. Our current MCTDs are not only serving veterans, military spouses, and transitioning service members on North Carolina bases, but also Joint Base Charleston through our hybrid in-person and virtual event model. The expansion of this program included in 2022 holding events on bases such as Camp Lejeune MCB and Cherry Point MCAS. In 2023, 7 events were held with 120 representatives from participating sponsors, educational institutions and non-profits. 482 transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses attended. In 2024, we continued with our MCTDs being held both in the Spring and Fall at NC State University. Our team of Collaborating Table Partners (VSOs, Hiring Companies, and Educational Institutions) provide trusted resources to those we serve as our events provide the 'Connect' to these incredibly valuable resources. Our speakers fulfill our stated goal of 'Inspiring and Encouraging' those we serve. | - | $1,169 |
| Military Mentorship Program MMP: In addition to our Transition Events, we also have in operation our 'Military Mentorship Program', whereby, mentorship discussions are fostered via 1:1 discussions and breakout sessions we call Career Path Explorations'. These discussions allow for veterans and military spouses of veterans to interact with transitioning service members for the sharing of best practices, knowledge, and relationship building that lead to ongoing mentorship discussions post-event. The individuals that lead such discussions and thus mentor the attendees are veterans that represent their company veteran affinity groups, local veteran groups such as Raleigh Veteran Connect or Veteran Business Collective, or just individuals that care. The next phase of this program will be the establishment of 1:1 Mentor/Mentee relationships with expectation-setting and tracking of progress. | - | $1,031 |
