IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0ND Senior Career Development is the Manager of the ND State Senior Career Service Employment Program (SCSEP). SCSEP is a training towards employment program for people 55 and older on a limited budget who meet the eligibility requirements set by the Department of Labor (DOL). The SCSEP program is funded through the DOL under Title V of the Older Americans Act. The ND State SCSEP program is handled through the ND Department of Human Services who is the ND State SCSEP granter. The SCSEP program provides paid training to qualified program participants while they learn a new skill or update existing skills at local nonprofit agencies. The SCSEP program benefits the program participants and provides essential assistance to community agencies, greatly enhancing their capability to help others. The SCSEP program contract must be zeroed out at the end of the fiscal year. Any money unused is returned to the Department of Labor. ND Senior Career Development received the contract to reinstate the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) in western ND. The FGP program is created to place qualified low income people 55 and older in an educational setting to help low income or at-risk children. The Foster Grandparents work one-on-one with these children providing invaluable assistance to the child and teacher and ensuring that the class as a whole has a better education. The FGP contract must be zeroed out at the end of the fiscal year. Any money unused is returned to AmeriCorps. During the contract year the Corporation for National Community Service (CNCS) rebranded to AmeriCorps.
