Volunteers assist with all programs by being available to athletes and participants during the sports events and activities.

Highlight individual abilities, leading to an overall improvement in quality of life. Hg commits to at least three years of follow-up care, helping each particpant connect to local resources and successfully reintegrate into his or her home community. The unique hg continuum of care includes a reintegration budget to help each member of our military family realize their individual goals.

Incorporate structured lessons as a beneficial recreational activity into their school days. In partnership with sun valley company and other local businesses, hg is able to offer all blaine county residents with disabilities a ski/snowboard equipment lease package, a season's mountain pass, and personalized instruction all free of charge.

All other activities including: special olympics: arguably the most well-known adaptive sports program worldwide, we are proud to the wood river valley's local affiliate for the special olympics organization. Special olympics empowers athletes with intellectual disabilities to be healthy, respected, and productive members of their communities through athletic training and competition, which are shared values within our own organization. Currently, the higher ground special olympics program serves more than 20 local athletes throughout the year competing in special olympics sports. Trainings and specific goals are tailored to individual skills and abilities. Hg athletes practice arduously to achieve the motto of "being brave in the attempt to win". Through their trainings, participants gain self-confidence, physical skills, communication strategies, teamwork abilities, and new social cues. Higher ground offers five programs for our athletes: nordic skiing, alpine skiing, snowbairding, bocce, and swimming.

THE GOAL OF THIS 5-MONTH PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION THAT INCREASES THE PARTICIPANT'S ABILITY TO A LEVEL WHERE HE OR SHE CAN ENJOY SNOW SPORTS AT THE HIGHEST-POSSIBLE INTEGRATED SETTING. PARTICIPANTS LEARN PHYSICAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS TO APPLY AT HOME AND SCHOOL; SNOW SPORT GOALS ARE ALSO SET FOR INDIVIDUALS IN ORDER TO TRACK PROGRESS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. HG SERVES CHILDREN, TEENS, AND ADULTS WITH ALL TYPES OF PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE DISABILITIES. THE PROGRAM STAFF OF PSIA CERTIFIED SKI/SNOWBOARD INSTRUCTORS AND VOLUNTEERS WORK CLOSELY WITH THE BLAINE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND IDAHO SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF AND BLIND (ISDB) TO (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O) INCORPORATE STRUCTURED LESSONS AS A BENEFICIAL RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY INTO THEIR SCHOOL DAYS. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SUN VALLEY COMPANY AND OTHER LOCAL BUSINESSES, HG IS ABLE TO OFFER ALL BLAINE COUNTY RESIDENTS WITH DISABILITIES A SKI/SNOWBOARD EQUIPMENT LEASE PACKAGE, A SEASON'S MOUNTAIN PASS, AND PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTION ALL FREE OF CHARGE.
