Kootenai health promotes community health through an open medical staff, a community-based board, and reinvestment of surplus funds into health programs, facility improvements, and targeted support for rural and underserved areas. The hospital implements initiatives in preventive care, chronic disease management, and health education for underserved populations.

“Ceo compensation is determined by the physician and executive compensation committee (a subcommittee of kootenai health's board of directors) where sullivan cotter shares market information and advises on all aspects of compensation base, incentive, benefits and retirement for executives. The committee makes these specific decisions within our meetings for the ceo. These decisions are documented in the meeting minutes. For the rest of the executives, the committee delegates specific decision authority regarding annual base salary increases to the ceo. The committee oversees the total spend and looks to sullivan cotter's reasonableness opinion regarding each specific executive's total compensation inclusive of base, incentive, benefits and retirement. With respect to incentive, benefits and retirement, the committee makes these decisions for all the executives including the ceo. These decisions are well documented in the committee's minutes. The committee generally meets three times a year. In q1 to set incentive goals for the executives, in q2 to review incentive payout and base salary decisions and q3 to review market movement and trends. Each of the meeting's minutes are detailed and specific as to decisions, affirmation of market positioning, affirmation of compensation philosophy and affirmation of sullivan cotter's reasonableness opinion.”
