Elevate hope house created a formal conflict of interest policy in december 2025. The policy will be reviewed and formally adopted at the board meeting on december 18, 2025.

The form 990 is first reviewed by the director of finance for accuracy and completeness. We have a standard review process beyond finance to ensure compliance with irs regulations and reinforce governance oversight. This review includes verification by the finance director, executive director, and board members of the accuracy of financial and program-related reporting, as well as discussion of any program-related disclosures. Once the internal review is complete, the return is distributed to the board of directors for a final approval vote at a board meeting prior to filing. Any questions or corrections from board members are incorporated before the return is signed and submitted.

Following adoption of the conflict of interest policy, all directors and key employees will be required to complete annual conflict of interest disclosure forms. The board will monitor compliance and enforce the policy to ensure that any potential conflicts are identified and appropriately managed in accordance with irs governance best practices. The policy will be reviewed annually and updated as needed to maintain compliance and effective oversight.

The executive director's compensation is reviewed and approved by the board of directors. The board considers factors such as job responsibilities, organizational budget, comparability data from similar nonprofits when available, and overall performance. Compensation decisions are documented in board meeting minutes, and no person involved in the decision has a conflict of interest related to the compensation arrangement. Conflicted individuals do not participate in approval decisions.
