“Raven's pursuit is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that organizes, provides and supports educational outreach programs for youth in the piedmont triad region of north carolina.”

“Raven's pursuit believes educating and inspiring youth through functional fitness teaches the value of community, builds confident individuals, and equips them with transferrable skills. To date, raven's pursuit has organized, developed and provided a physical education program for hope academy, a greensboro, nc private, not-for-profit elementary and middle school working with disadvantaged youth. Raven's pursuit guided the development and writing of a functional fitness curriculum that aligns both with the north carolina department of public instruction physical education standards for middle school students as well as the movements that are fundamental to crossfit kids programming. Additionally, raven's pursuit funded the coaching for this physical education program with over 95% of monies raised in year one-two by going directly to coaching fees. During the 2018-19 school year, raven's pursuit is educating 58 youth at hope academy through this partnership. Raven's pursuit was able to plan, monitor, and navigate all aspects of its working relationship to endure highly effective learning opportunities for students. Raven's pursuit is able to maintain an agile relationship that moves as needed to accomdate the unique needs of a school in an effort to break the cycle of poverty of students in this most at-risk environment. As part of our commitment to building a successful model for programming, data has been gathered and communicated back to the school. Nine measured categories were identified and tracked over the school year and students showed improvements in these categories: 20 rep max push up, 20 rep max squat, plank, 360 ft dash, max dangle, max squats in 1 minute, max push ups in 1 minute, max sit ups in 1 minute, max burpees in 1 minute. The students'success in physical education activities furthers their opportunities for success in other areas of their education and in their daily lives in the community.”
