DescriptionGrantsExpenses
EACH YEAR, HUNDREDS OF YORK STUDENTS GET HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES FROM OUR YOUTH ROBOTICS PROGRAM. IN 2024, OVER 350 STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN, 5TH, AND 7TH GRADES PARTICIPATED IN ONE OF OUR IN-SCHOOL ROBOTICS ACTIVITIES. OUR ACTIVITIES EDUCATE OUR UNDERSERVED YOUTH ON ROBOTICS AND ENGINEERING CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES. AIMING TO GET STUDENTS INTERESTED IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, WE PROVIDE OUR ACTIVITIES DIRECTLY IN LOCAL SCHOOL CLASSROOMS. OUR GOAL IS TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN STEM-RELATED CAREER PATHWAY INTERESTS.$0$10,800
THE ROBOMASTERMINDS FIRST TECH CHALLENGE (FTC) COMPETITIVE HIGH SCHOOL ROBOTICS TEAM STARTED. STUDENTS LEARN ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE STEAM SKILLS (SUCH AS KEEPING AN ENGINEERING NOTEBOOK) UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF ADULT COACHES AND MENTORS, WHILE ALSO APPRECIATING THE VALUE OF PERSEVERANCE, CREATIVITY, AND IDEA SHARING. THE ROBOT KIT CAN BE PROGRAMMED USING JAVA AND IS REUSABLE FROM YEAR TO YEAR. TEAMS MUST ALSO RAISE MONEY, CREATE AND MARKET THEIR TEAM BRAND, AND ENGAGE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR WHICH THEY CAN RECEIVE RECOGNITION. IN 2024, A TOTAL OF 4 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM DEVELOPS EACH TEAM MEMBER'S 21ST-CENTURY SKILLS AND BUILDS CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM IN EACH TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS. OUR STUDENTS LEARN THE VALUE OF TEAMWORK WHILE DEVELOPING SKILLS THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME. TEAM MEMBERS SPEND ABOUT 200 HOURS PRACTICING TOGETHER DURING THE YEAR.$0$3,490

OVER THE PAST 8 YEARS, A TOTAL OF 62 STUDENTS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM AND THE TEAMS HAVE RECEIVED 24 AWARDS, OF WHICH 1 WAS WON IN 2024. THE PROGRAM DEVELOPS EACH TEAM MEMBER'S 21ST-CENTURY SKILLS AND BUILDS CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM IN EACH TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS. STUDENTS LEARN ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE STEAM SKILLS (SUCH AS KEEPING AN ENGINEERING NOTEBOOK) UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF ADULT COACHES AND MENTORS, WHILE ALSO APPRECIATING THE VALUE OF PERSEVERANCE, CREATIVITY, AND IDEA SHARING. THE ROBOT KIT CAN BE PROGRAMMED USING JAVA AND IS REUSABLE FROM YEAR TO YEAR. TEAMS MUST ALSO RAISE MONEY, CREATE AND MARKET THEIR TEAM BRAND, AND ENGAGE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR WHICH THEY CAN RECEIVE RECOGNITION. IN 2024, A TOTAL OF 4 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM DEVELOPS EACH TEAM MEMBER'S 21ST-CENTURY SKILLS AND BUILDS CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM IN EACH TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS. OUR STUDENTS LEARN THE VALUE OF TEAMWORK WHILE DEVELOPING SKILLS THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME. TEAM MEMBERS SPEND ABOUT 200 HOURS PRACTICING TOGETHER DURING THE YEAR.
