(2) provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and new techniques used by administrators, officers and educators. (3) conduct training seminars, conferences and research of educational methods used for improving law enforcement, corrections and communications. (4) educate the membership and the public regarding issues relative to apprentice training in law enforcement, corrections and communications. (5) enable members to keep informed of current legislative changes and current judicial decisions. (6) to take notice of new trends in apprentice and promotional training. (7) benefit the public interest in the areas of law enforcement, corrections, and communications. (8) provide public safety educational safety information suitable for distribution to law enforcement, corrections and communications. (9) perpetuate the training of field training officers (fto's), participating agencies, training organizations and/or other agencies.”

“The national association of field training officers (nafto) through its member management services has coordinated training across the country. The training consists of our basic field training school which trains experienced officers how to train new officers entering law enforcement from academy training. The basic corrections field training school trains experienced detention officers how to train new detention officers entering the corrections field from academy training; field training m,anagement classes provide supervisors the understanding of how to run a field training program. This training is accomplished through attendance by members at our state and national conferences. Through these conferences, nafto provides current trends and basic skills for field trainers in law enforcement, corrections, dispatch and emt training. The organization's membership during the period covered by this return was approximately 1800 members.”
