HELD APPROXIMATELY 8 OUTREACHES IN 2020 INCLUDING THE ARNOLD SPORTS CLASSIC IN COLUMBUS OHIO, THE SUPER BOWL IN MIAMI FLORIDA AND SEVERAL SMALLER OUTREACHES IN JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA, PHOENIX AZ, ANN ARBOR MI, AND OTHER LOCATIONS. DUE TO COVID-19, THIS WAS DOWN DRASTICALLY FROM PREVIOUS YEARS HOWEVER, OUR VOLUNTEERS STILL PURCHASED 104,000 BARS OF SOAP. THEY LABELED THEM WITH THE NATIONAL HUMAN TRAFFICKING HOTLINE NUMBER AS WELL AS OVER 25,000 MAKE-UP REMOVER WIPES TO BE GIVEN TO HOTELS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. S.O.A.P. HAS GIVEN OUT MORE THAN 2 MILLION BARS OF SOAP AND WIPES WITH THE HOTLINE NUMBER IN THE PAST 10 YEARS. SOAP HAS HAD APPROXIMATELY 25,000 PEOPLE VOLUNTEER TO LABEL AND DISTRIBUTE THE SOAP/WIPES. S.O.A.P. HAS DISTRIBUTED HUMAN TRAFFICKING EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND MISSING CHILDREN'S POSTERS TO OVER 25,000 HOTELS AND MOTELS ALL ACROSS THE U.S. AS A RESULT OF OUR EFFORTS, WE HAVE BEEN A VITAL PART IN THE RECOVERY OF MISSING YOUTH WHO ARE BEING TRAFFICKED. IN 2019, AN OUTREACH DONE AT A CHURCH IN MICHIGAN HAD A TEAM GO TO A HOTEL WITH THE SUPPLIES AND THEY RECOGNIZED TWO TEENS FROM THE MISSING POSTER. THEY CALLED THE AUTHORITIES WHICH LED TO THEM BEING IMMEDIATELY RECOVERED, ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER GIRLS AND THE ARREST OF A TRAFFICKER. THE TEAM LATER WAS ABLE TO GO TO COURT AS WITNESSED TO SEE THE TRAFFICKER PROSECUTED. RESCUE VICTIMS OF SEX TRAFFICKING AND HELPING THEM TO RETURN TO A NORMAL LIFE.-$92,416
THE JOURNEY OF GRACE SURVIVOR RETREATS IN 2020, OUR RETREATS WERE DRASTICALLY AFFECTED BY COVID-19. HOWEVER, WE WERE STILL ABLE TO HOLD TWO RETREATS IN THE FALL. 24 SURVIVORS OF TRAFFICKING WERE FLOWN TO COLUMBUS OHIO WHERE WE HAD 20+ VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE SERVICES AND CLASSES FOR THE LADIES ALL WEEKEND. THEY WERE POURED INTO MIND, BODY AND SOUL FOR A THERAPEUTIC, HEALING WEEKEND THAT IS FREE OF CHARGE FOR THEM. SURVIVORS FROM CALIFORNIA, OREGON, ARIZONA, FLORIDA, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, AND MORE ATTENDED. LIVES WERE CHANGED THAT WEEKEND AND THEIR SUPPORT SYSTEM GREW. THE RETREATS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, BUT WE VALUE THIS PROGRAM AND HAVE HAD OVER 150 ATTEND OUR RETREATS. WE RECEIVED A GRANT FROM THE LUCAS COUNTY BOARD OF MENTAL HEALTH IN 2019 TO HELP SURVIVORS AS WELL. WE HAVE LEARNED THE SIMPLE THINGS MEAN A LOT TO WOMEN WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN ALLOWED TO 'BE A KID' DUE TO THEIR HORRIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES. WE TOOK 12 SURVIVORS TO THE ZOO, HAD A BONFIRE AND SLEPT AT A HOTEL ONE WEEKEND. WE THEN LATER HAD A CHRISTMAS DINNER OUTING, SECRET SANTA EXCHANGE AND DRANK HOT CHOCOLATE WHILE WALKING AROUND TO SEE THE LIGHTS AT THE ZOO.-$40,353

The soap project is a charitable and educational organization specifically focused on educating and increasing awareness in the public on the prevalence of human trafficking, to restore trafficked survivors and to prevent teens from being victimized by domestic sex trafficking of minors.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Soap outreaches s.o.a.p. Rescue victims of sex trafficking and helping them to return to a normal life.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

We then later had a christmas dinner outing, secret santa exchange and drank hot chocolate while walking around to see the lights at the zoo.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 30

Survivor services: support group, counseling & emergency services covid-19 hit survivors of trauma who are experiencing ptsd hard. Not being able to leave, losing their jobs and getting sick triggered many of them. We provided many hours of free, trauma informed counseling via zoom and phone as well as increased our emergency services. Last year we were fortunate enough to assist survivors in the following ways: paid 6 months of mortgage for a survivor and her family so they didn't get evicted, paid a survivor's court fines so she could get a driver's license for the first time at age 60, paid a survivor's medical bills that insurance would not cover, assisted survivors who are setting up a new, safe home with furniture and household supplies. Provided a survivor with money for diapers, rental assistance for a deposit on a new place and help with a car repair so she could get to her job. In the past we have also helped survivors with washer and dryers and assistance to travel to the states where they have warrants to get them expunged. Soap also has a monthly support group called 2nd wind and between 10-18 survivors ranging in age from 16 years old to 65, who are from michigan and nw ohio participate. For the most part, we held them virtually and have classes on wellness, art via zoom, bible study, yoga etc. Lastly, we have a private facebook page for all survivors who have attended a retreat and the volunteers they have bonded with. This page consists of almost 200 women and they receive constant support, opportunities and a safe place to share.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 31

The liberator awards has been honoring other abolitionists in the fight of modern day slavery since 2011. The awards have expanded from central ohio to michigan and now include recipients and honorees from all across the nation. Named after william lloyd garrison, those who qualify are nominated and voted on by their peers for their hard work and dedication to changing laws, prosecuting offenders, protecting the victims and overcoming the unthinkable. The awards also has become a unique evening where survivors sit side by side with those who help eradicate this evil and celebrate together. Even amidst covid, the soap project was able to help assist more survivors in 2020 than ever. We changed our support groups for survivors from monthly, in person groups to online and weekly. Our trauma trained counselor helped survivors with little or no support and guided through the scary times we all faced. Through ppp funding and the sba loan, we were able to keep our staff employed and financially assisted survivors of human trafficking to prevent them from losing their homes, paid medical bills when they had no income and gave them furniture to start a new home and life. While we were unable to have any soap outreaches in public after march 2020, our volunteers still emailed the soap missing children's posters to hotels in their area. We adapted a new mobile soap outreach model that was set into motion at the super bowl and kept all 300 volunteers healthy. Lastly, when restrictions relaxed, we were able to gather 24 survivors of human trafficking from all across the us, together for our journey of grace intensive, therapeutic weekend program in november.

IRS990EZ/ProgramSrvcAccomplishmentGrp/DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt2SURVIVOR SERVICES: SUPPORT GROUP, COUNSELING & EMERGENCY SERVICES COVID-19 HIT SURVIVORS OF TRAUMA WHO ARE EXPERIENCING PTSD HARD.
IRS990EZ/ProgramSrvcAccomplishmentGrp/DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt3THE LIBERATOR AWARDS HAS BEEN HONORING OTHER ABOLITIONISTS IN THE FIGHT OF MODERN DAY SLAVERY SINCE 2011. IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3THE SOAP PROJECT IS A CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION SPECIFICALLY FOCUSED ON EDUCATING AND INCREASING AWARENESS IN THE PUBLIC ON THE PREVALENCE OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING, TO RESTORE TRAFFICKED SURVIVORS AND TO PREVENT TEENS FROM BEING VICTIMIZED BY DOMESTIC SEX TRAFFICKING OF MINORS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4SOAP OUTREACHES S.O.A.P. RESCUE VICTIMS OF SEX TRAFFICKING AND HELPING THEM TO RETURN TO A NORMAL LIFE.
