| Support groups These meet, depending on the demand, weekly or monthly, and may run concurrently. These are open membership meaning that members can come and go freely, and long-term commitment is not required. Some of the benefits of these support groups include: * Connection during an experience that can sometimes feel isolating * Tips and information from those who've been through the same thing * Opportunities to use your knowledge to help others Counseling We have licensed and trained counselors who volunteer their time to meet with patients, survivors and their caregivers. Our location allows the counselors to volunteer their time using our location without complicating their expenses at their respective practice locations because we cover their overhead expenses. Education Workshops & Community Programs We believe that educated patients are much better consumers. Individuals can sign up for our bi-monthly workshops which cover topics including: * Breast Prosthesis/Wig Clinic * Compression Garments * Mindfulness Workshops * Legal Health Clinics (ADA, FMLA, Wrongful termination during/due to illness) * Happiness & Gratitude Training * Healthy Grieving * Managing Survivor's Guilt Peer-to-Peer Support The period after cancer treatment is fraught with distinct stresses. When patients finish therapy, they're exhausted physically and emotionally. What's more, there are no more treatments to go through; no more intensive contact with doctors; no more battle mentality. Instead, the follow-up period involves watchfulness, and a cancer survivor may feel dread before appointments or during the anniversary of a cancer diagnosis. We connect breast cancer patients with trained volunteers to receive peer-to-peer support on everything from practical and emotional issues to helping them cope with their disease, treatment, and long-term survivorship issues. This is done on an appointment basis and is available 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays 10 am to 3 pm. Lodging Getting the best care sometimes means cancer patients must travel away from home. This can place an extra emotional and financial burden on patients and caregivers during an already challenging time. The LIVE Today Foundation is trying to make this difficult situation easier for both cancer patients and their families through utilizing this space as temporary housing for those in need. We offer cancer patients 18 and older and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in the Chicagoland area away from their home town. | $21,200 | $17,520 |
