Our exempt purpose is to destigmatize mental illness, to build communities designed to foster mental health, and to support youth movements around hope, communication, and inner strength. We are a strong, youth-driven movement that is tired of the silence surrounding mental illness; we are ready to move mountains to bring change and remind folks that there is help and hope out there. We are tired of the deafening silence around this topic. We are tired of the stigma that keeps people from reaching out and getting the help that they need. We are tired of suffering in silence and we are tired of losing our friends to suicide. One-in-five people worldwide suffer from mental illness; our mission is to end the stigma surrounding mental illness, and to build a community of people who realize that hope happens when youth and community leaders work together. We hope that someday mental illness will be as normal to talk about as any physical illness, and we're dedicated to realizing this goal.

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | In 2024, our message of hope, community, and stigma reduction continued to reach more young people and adult allies, as reflected in the steady growth of our Youth Ambassador program and the increasing number of communities joining our youth-led movement. With the ongoing youth mental health crisis and rising suicide rates, we remain deeply committed to creating meaningful change in this space. Today, we have over 675 Youth Ambassadors actively bringing YTP programming and Hope Gardens to their schools, with new ambassadors set to join in 2025.(Continued on Schedule O)Hope Gardens continued to expand, with new bulbs planted in communities across the country, reinforcing our mission to spark conversations about mental health at an early age. Recognizing the importance of early intervention, we secured funding in 2024 to expand our Creative Daily Practice and Art-Based Nature Programming to new elementary and middle schools nationwide. Additionally, we launched EXPRESS, a new arts program designed to support BIPOC youth, piloting student-led projects such as murals, documentaries, and t-shirt printing in three schools.Our commitment to arts and storytelling as powerful tools for mental health advocacy deepened this year. We concluded 2024 with over 1,000 individuals completing our Storytelling Alchemy course, and we further refined our focus on arts and media to better meet the needs of the youth we serve.Beyond programming, YTP was honored to participate in several global conferences, including the Arctic Congress (Norway), the Global Mental Health Peer Network (South Africa), and the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). Our work was recognized with two distinguished awards: the Cam Busch NOAH 'Arts in Health Award' (Honorable Mention) and the Sir William Darling Memorial Prize.As we look ahead, we remain unwavering in our mission to empower youth, cultivate hope, and change the conversation around mental health-one community, one story, and one action at a time. |
