Live Performances of Established Plays and Musicals for the Public and Community -Art Factory maintains a deliberately intimate space to connect Houston theatre patrons to art in a fearless, face-to-face manner. Each moment spent in the Art Factory immerses Houston theatre-goers in a full artistic experience, and binds spectators to their humanity, allowing art to unite our community. -The core of Art Factory's productions is its re-staging and re-envisioning of existing works of theatre, giving Houston audiences a brand new theatrical experience. We strive to hold firmly to the nostalgia and familiarity of existing musicals by maintaining their integrity, while creating inventive aesthetics for each piece. In 2023, we produced six large scale musicals; Pippin, 9 to 5 The Musical, Hair, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Reefer Madness the Musical, and Into the Woods. These productions included a highly conceptualized productions created volunteer opportunities for local actors, who gave their time and talent for the community and only accepted a small stipend to cover the expense to travel to rehearsals and performances. This show had a large group of volunteer actors, technicians, stage management, crew, ushers, and other opportunities for people in our community to get involved with a theatrical experience being created for the community. We worked with over 100 volunteers to bring these productions to life, and each show had nine performances open to the public. over 1,000 patrons attended our productions, including many who were able to attend the event for under $15 dollars due to our allocation of a certain amount of tickets for low income individuals. Program expenses included purchases of costumes, props, wigs, makeup, lighting and sound equipment, and other things necessary to put the productions together. Additionally, purchases were made for building supplies including cleaning supplies, water and beverages we provided at no cost to volunteers and attendees, and wood to construct the sets. These productions are both licensed shows that require the purchase of rights; each show varies in cost, but rights and royalties to obtain a license to perform the show typically range between $2500-$4000 for a theater of our size. Final additional expenditures include online advertising, craft services for our volunteers and patrons, and purchased tracks which serve as the musical score for each production.$0$67,450

New Works of Original Musical Theatre - Art Factory provides a brand new theatrical experience with the opportunity to witness the development of pieces from across the country that have not yet been presented in our area, as well as original works helmed directly by the artists of our company. Art Factory Founders Luke Hamilton and Colton Berry helmed two new productions in 2023. These productions included a Broadway Cabaret of show tunes featuring live vocalists and musicians, and a concert focusing on the music of Adele. Expenses incurred for creating new work involved purchases of sheet music, rights for songs, costumes, props, wigs, makeup, lighting and sound equipment, and other things necessary to put the productions together. Additionally, purchases were made for building supplies including cleaning supplies, water and beverages we provided at no cost to volunteers, and wood to construct the sets. We mounted two projects that were free to perform being that they were original works of theatre. We presented eight full productions available to the general public the 2023 year, two being world premieres and one was a regional premiere. Final additional expenditures include online advertising, craft services for our volunteers and patrons, purchased tracks which serve as the musical score for each production, film equipment, music software and editing software and other necessary subscriptions and purchases to carry out our exempt purpose.
