Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The full Board of Directors receives a complete copy of Form 990 prior to filing and reviews it in a formally recorded meeting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The organization maintains a written conflict-of-interest policy requiring annual disclosure and recusal. During the year, a contractor who is the spouse of a board member performed program-related grant work. The board member fully disclosed the relationship and recused themselves from all discussions, approvals, and oversight. Independent management personnel reviewed the engagement for fair market value and program necessity. A contractor who is the spouse of a board member received $16,150 for program services including coaching justice-impacted clients, educational navigation, funding assistance, housing and resource referrals, and documentation of program outcomes. The board member disclosed the relationship and was fully recused from procurement, oversight, and approval of invoices. Compensation was based on documented hours, fair market value, and program deliverables. Payments were made solely for program services, not administrative or personal benefit.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Compensation for the Executive Director and key personnel is reviewed and approved by independent board members using comparability data (e.g., similar organizations' Form 990 filings). Documentation is maintained in board meeting minutes.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Ronnie's House demonstrates transparency by publishing an Annual Report on its website, which includes financial highlights such as revenue totals, expense breakdowns, and program allocations. These summaries provide the public with clear insight into how the organization uses its resources to support justice-impacted individuals. Full financial statements, governing documents, and the conflict-of-interest policy are available upon request, and the organization will provide copies in a timely manner. Requests may be submitted through the contact form on our website or by email.

Form 990, Part VII, Section A, Line 1A

The Executive Director was paid $500 for executive leadership and administrative duties. All additional payments were for program service contractor work and are reported in Part IX, line 11g. These services included project management, reentry coaching, business development training, hosting events, workshop facilitation, client case navigation, technical project work, web design support for business based clients, marketing and outreach deliverables, and other services directly tied to grant-funded programs. All payments were supported by detailed invoices, work logs, and deliverable tracking.

The Transforming LA initiative consisted of the following integrated components: Reentry Summit and Resource Fair: Ronnies House organized and hosted the 4th Annual Reentry Keys Summit, a two-day convening that brought together representatives from law enforcement, probation departments, government agencies, community-based nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, funders, and justice-impacted individuals. Summit programming focused on workforce readiness, nonprofit capacity building, systems navigation, and cross-sector collaboration, with more than 250 individuals participating in summit sessions. Approximately 500 individuals attended the resource fair. Wellness Wednesdays: As part of Transforming LA, Ronnie's House hosted recurring Wellness Wednesday community support sessions serving approximately 100 participants.
