Mission

To attract more women into energy through outreach programs through growth in chapters and related membership. We will retain and develop women in energy by fostering relationships, developing leadership competencies and industry insight through strategic partnerships with companies, educational institutions, and other organizations.

Develop programs to provide networking opportunities and foster career and leadership development of women who work in the energy industries.

Wen has an individual and corporate membership classes.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

Members of wen are entitled to one vote on each matter submitted by the national board to a vote at an annual business or special membership meeting. No member shall be entitled to any dividend or any part of income of wen national or to share in the distribution of wen's national assets upon dissolution. The board has the discretion to decide which, if any, matters shall be submitted to the membership for a vote except that the following decisions will always be submitted to the membership for a vote: wen board, amending wen's bylaws, dissolving wen, merging or consolidating with another association, and selling all or substantially all of wen's assets. To be eligible for membership in wen, a prospective member must (1) have a bachelor's degree or five years professional involvement in the energy industry; (2) current employment at an energy company or currently providing services to an energy company; (3)submit the required application form; (4) be recommended by an existing wen member in good standing; (5) pay annual dues; and (6) adhere to the prohibited use of wen membership directory policy and non-solitation policy. Members elect the board of directors at the annual business meeting held in october. Elections of directors require a majority vote unless a motion is made, seconded, and passed from the floor to elect by written ballot. No wen member may vote by proxy in the election of directors.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

An electronic copy of the form 990 is provided to each voting member of the governing body at least 2 weeks prior to the filing of the return. Upon tax preparer completion of the irs form 990, the form and accompanying schedules will first be reviewed by the association management company's president and controller. Thereafter, an electronic copy of the form 990 (and accompanying schedules) will be made available by the association director to each voting member of the governing body via e-mail notification along with instructions for contacting the association headquarters with comments or questions. A two week timeframe will be provided for governing body comments or questions. Following the resolution of any questions or other matters that have risen, the form 990 and accompanying schedules will be provided by the account executive to a designated officer (president or treasurer) for final authorizing signature. The signed form 990 will be returned to the association management company for submission to the irs by the due date of the return.

All officers and directors of wen national are required to provide a signed copy of the wen's conflict of interest policy in acknowledgment and compliance with policy. Enforcement procedures are described in section iii - procedures of the conflict of interest policy.

BY 2016, WITH THE FORMATION OF MANY INDEPENDENT CHAPTERS, THE NATIONAL CHAPTER WAS FORMED TO BUILD SUSTAINABILITY AND SCALABILITY FOR FUTURE GROWTH OF THE EXISTING CHAPTERS AND DEMAND FOR MORE. WOMEN IN THIS INDUSTRY THAT DESIRE THE CONNECTION AND DEMAND CONTINUES.
