Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Our partnership with Tikki Hywood Foundation funds and supports the rescue, rehabilitation and release of pangolin into safe areas of Zimbabwe and Cameroon, as well as create awareness and work with the mandated authorities to educate them on how to safely and correctly confiscate wildlife and pangolins. We support the care of pangolins at the sanctuary and provide vet care for pangolins injured by poachers. We also help combat illegal wildlife trafficking by working with local authorities and communities where poaching is rampant. Number of missions 17, Pangolins recovered 41, Pangolins released 35$118,000$119,997
Grant to Grain Media to coordinate a global investigation into illegal wildlife trafficking involving endangered wildlife to private zoos and other private facilities. This urgent project will unite NGOs and journalists, and investigators to collect and verify evidence that withstands legal scrutiny and release findings strategically. Funds will cover investigative work, legal support, DNA testing, evidence archiving, and local reporting in DRC and India. The goal is to stop ongoing trafficking, hold perpetrators accountable, and raise international awareness, including through a feature-length documentary currently in production.$15,000$15,000
JACK Sanctuary chimp rescue and rehabilitation program in DRC: provide funding to rescue chimps and other endangered primates in the DRC that are victims of illegal wildlife trafficking. We fund veterinary care and enrichment projects for the rescues. A total of 183 primates (43 chimps and 140 old-world monkeys) at the center by end June 2024. On-going support also to combat illegal wildlife trafficking in the Sankuru region of the DRC. With approximately 27 employees helped with our funding, such as caretakers, sanctuary helpers and people who rescue and find illegal wildlife traffickers.$9,900$9,900
Anti-poaching and community initiatives in Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi National Park, Uganda: providing wildlife and environmental awareness to adults and kids by teaching about wildlife conservation and creating projects that benefit local community members and the surrounding community. Projects such as tree planting, clean-up day, a 5-day wildlife conservation camp in Bwindi Natl Forest with more than 180 in attendance, including teachers and rangers, to curb the illegal wire snare use and bush meat trade. Over 200 people benefited this year with around 150 kids (plus 30 adults) attending the camp, ongoing support. All to raise awareness and protect the approx. 500 mountain gorillas in the two regions of our work, Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi National Park. Also to protect the Golden monkeys in Mgahinga area.$8,700$8,700
Partnered with Pocchalla Community conservation project in South Sudan. Community conservation project to raise awareness around poaching in the region, which has the 2nd largest wildlife migration in Africa of ungulates and other animals. Funds used to get to the tribal communities and provide other ways to do agriculture in the area and do projects where you replace bushmeat with fowl or pig farming.$7,900$7,900
Javan Rhino Protection program in Indonesia: Working on the removal of the invasive Arenga Palm project to provide more vegetation for the Javan rhino in this protected region of Ujung Kulon National Park. Fully supported by Indonesia Park mgmt. Removing Arenga palm and other invasive species (lantana shrubs) that compete with the grasses that the Javan rhinos eat. Provided jobs for over 30 people over a two-month period. There are only around 74 Javan rhinos left in the world. Ongoing project. Provide monitoring and protection thru camera traps and team reports of Javan rhino behavior and protection with rangers in Ujung Kulon National Park, Indonesia.$5,000$5,000
Designing and producing a seven-part series of educational booklets for elementary school students featuring stories about endangered species and global conservation issues, inspiring students to create their own action plans and learn more about the challenges wildlife face in today's world and how they can help. We printed 500 copies of the booklets, which were distributed to schools, parents and educators, as they were also used during our classroom talks on conservation, and students committed to hands-on projects to protect wildlife, fostering the next generation of conservation leaders. This is a series which we hope to make 6 or 7 in total over the next few years. Funds were used to engage an independent contractor to illustrate the booklet and the cost of printing the books. We printed the first 200 and then printed an additional 300 books. The illustrations are all hand-drawn.$0$3,620
This grant provided $2,000 to Applied Education Foundation so they could offer mini-grants to student teams participating in the MATE ROV competition, supporting STEM education and ocean conservation. Ten teams each received $200 to purchase approved equipment and materials for building underwater ROVs. In return, students explained how their ROV designs could be used to collect ocean data and contribute to marine conservation efforts, fostering innovation, hands-on learning, and environmental awareness. 8 teams of children from underserved areas in Olympia, Washington participated, with over 50 kids involved in the science based competition, with many having applied for the first time ever, due to the grant we offered for them to buy material and equioment.$2,000$2,000
