“The corporation is organized for the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; the recogintion of worthiness of all useful occupations and the dignifying by each member of his/her occupation as an opportunity to serve society; the application of the idea of service by every member to his/her personal, business and community life; and the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service, and to have and exercise the general powers of a nonprofit corporation under the provisions of the south dakota non-profit corporation act.”

“The members of the rotary club participate in activities that further the interest of the community of mitchell and include such things as ringing bells for the salvation army, a scholarship program for graduating seniors, participating in a community all-service club luncheon, sponsoring a park in downtown mitchell and various other programs. Weekly meetings are held featuring community or state speakers on relevant and current topics. The philosophy of the club is "service above self".”
