“The mission of the coalition is defiance county promoting substance use awareness. The purpose of the defiance county drug free coalition is to document and inform the defiance community about the extent of the alcohol and drug abuse in defiance county; to foster coordination of existing resources in effectively addressing the problem; to collaborate with other community organizations to fill the gaps in the community's alcohol and drug abuse prevention efforts; to provide advice, advocacy, coordination, information, research and evaluation, technical support and training as needed to accomplish these objectives and to secure funding through grants, contributions and or fundraisers as appropriate.”

“Drug awareness forums: the coalition held two drug awareness forums in defiance county discussing the current situational analysis in defiance county; prevention services currently available; law enforcements role in drug/substance use; treatment options in defiance county; communications in defiance county; and the role of the community. "operation information": a new website, www.defianceinfo.com was formed to provide information to defiance county residents in all facets of life, particularly substance use treatment and recovery; support for families; and meeting locations and times for aa and na. Press releases: submitted press released in relation to important information on drugs and alcohol. Coalition academy: the executive director was awarded a training experience at the coalition academy hosted by preventionfirst. Ohio adult allies summit: the executive director attend the ohio adult allies summit to learn more about working with teen leaders. Strategic planning: in december 2016, coalition members gathered for 4 hours to write a 2 year strategic plan.”
