Mission

We envision a vibrant downtown lewiston, maine, where proud homeowners are committed to stewardship of their neighborhoods and are building generational financial stability.

Healthy Homeworks is a nonprofit dedicated to creating healthy housing by building collaborative relationships between property owners and renters. We provide resources and educational experiences that empower landlords and tenants to become confident, capable, respectful partners who are mutually invested in the properties and neighborhoods that they share.BUILD-A-BED PROGRAM (BAB)This program teaches teams of 4 who cannot afford a bed ("Builders") how to make their own bed frames. During their 20 hours, Builders master a 20-point skills checklist. Upon completion, each Builder receives the bed they built along with a new mattress and bedbug encasement. The BAB program teaches work readiness skills: arriving on time, filling out a time sheet, collaborating with teammates, and taking responsibility for product quality. Builders gain the pride and self-esteem that comes from developing new skills and creating something of lasting value - an accomplishment they are reminded of each morni

IN DOING SO, OUR VOLUNTEERS KEEP THE PROGRAM RUNNING, PAYING THE OPPORTUNITY FORWARD TO THEIR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS.WE DELIVER AND SET UP THEIR NEW BED, COMPLETE WITH A NEW MATTRESS AND BEDBUG ENCASEMENT, WHERE IT STANDS AS A DAILY TESTAMENT TO THEIR CREATIVE POTENTIAL AND ABILITY TO IMPROVE THEIR OWN LIFE.

IRS990/MissionDesc0Healthy Homeworks is a nonprofit dedicated to creating healthy housing by building collaborative relationships between property owners and renters. We provide resources and educational experiences that empower landlords and tenants to become confident, capable, respectful partners who are mutually invested in the properties and neighborhoods that they share.BUILD-A-BED PROGRAM (BAB)This program teaches teams of 4 who cannot afford a bed ("Builders") how to make their own bed frames. During their 20 hours, Builders master a 20-point skills checklist. Upon completion, each Builder receives the bed they built along with a new mattress and bedbug encasement. The BAB program teaches work readiness skills: arriving on time, filling out a time sheet, collaborating with teammates, and taking responsibility for product quality. Builders gain the pride and self-esteem that comes from developing new skills and creating something of lasting value - an accomplishment they are reminded of each morni

We reclaimed this 50x100 foot lot following the condemnation and demolition of a triple decker that stood there for 100+ years. We re-purposed it into a backyard scale event space, adding a snack shack stocked with all of the gear needed to run an outdoor event, along with exterior lighting and free wifi. Residents can reserve and use it for free, while organizations pay a modest fee.
