Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The rappahannock benevolent fund serves those with emergency needs in the county. This is done by providing electrical, plumbing, fuel, and rental assistance and prevents disasterous family events such as eviction or utility shut-off. The fund also may provide critical home repairs when safety is at issue. In addition, the fund may install wheelchair ramps or other accces for disabled people. The fund has also paid for automobile repair assistance to help a family breadwinner maintain employment.

The Rappahannock Benevolent Fund was organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. It was established to serve the needy of Rappahannock County, Virginia. The purposes are to reduce poverty and assist low-income individuals by: providing assistance to families and individuals with short-term emergency needs for which no government or non-government programs are available; by creating economic, educational and other opportunities; and by educating the public on issues of poverty.
