Transforming hiv resentment into victory everlasting support services incorporated (thrive ss inc.) was founded december 4, 2015 by three black gay men living with hiv endeavoring to find an innovative way to offer support, linkage to health care and a sense of belonging to a vibrant community to those like themselves. Dwain bridges, daniel driffin and larry scott-walker, created the undetectable support model as a way to halt the death and despair amongst black gay men living with hiv. Young queer men and trans identified people of color are still dying at astronomical rates. With all of the prevention messaging and biomedical advancements, the cdc (centers for disease control and prevention) predicts that 1 in 2 black gay men will contract hiv in his lifetime. With statistics as grim and morbid as these, it was imperative that someone devise a creative, people-centered approach to address the issue. In 2014, the guys began an intimate in-person support meeting and attendance hovered around 5 or 6 brave souls who'd dare come to such an event. May 4, 2015 in an attempt to amplify the efforts of the support group, the founders developed the undetectables support model. The undetectables support model is a 3-tiered approach that couples online 24- hour support, with in-person traditional support and social support, as a way to assist those living with hiv in attaining vital resources while building their social capital, self-awareness, confidence in both self and community and to build their skills as hiv advocates. In 4 years, thrive has recruited over 3,300 people living with hiv into our networks. We have aided high prevalence jurisdictions around the country in beginning similar networks and have helped to establish a network in atlanta for 300 black women living with the virus.thrive ss inc has hosted over 300 in-person support groups, community meetings, education events, fundraisers, health forums, community brunch discussions and artistic events towards our vision of creating a new narrative of living with hiv. We have linked more than 3000 women, men and transgender individuals of color living with hiv in the atlanta metropolitan area to the supportive care they needed. Our support system provides more than 500 people additional options for food through a partnership with feed thee, inc., and midwest food bank and recently opened a community enrichment center in east point, georgia.

WAS FOUNDED DECEMBER 4, 2015 BY THREE BLACK GAY MEN LIVING WITH HIV ENDEAVORING TO FIND AN INNOVATIVE WAY TO OFFER SUPPORT, LINKAGE TO HEALTH CARE AND A SENSE OF BELONGING TO A VIBRANT COMMUNITY TO THOSE LIKE THEMSELVES. DWAIN BRIDGES, DANIEL DRIFFIN AND LARRY SCOTT-WALKER, CREATED THE UNDETECTABLE SUPPORT MODEL AS A WAY TO HALT THE DEATH AND DESPAIR AMONGST BLACK GAY MEN LIVING WITH HIV. YOUNG QUEER MEN AND TRANS IDENTIFIED PEOPLE OF COLOR ARE STILL DYING AT ASTRONOMICAL RATES. WITH ALL OF THE PREVENTION MESSAGING AND BIOMEDICAL ADVANCEMENTS, THE CDC (CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION) PREDICTS THAT 1 IN 2 BLACK GAY MEN WILL CONTRACT HIV IN HIS LIFETIME. WITH STATISTICS AS GRIM AND MORBID AS THESE, IT WAS IMPERATIVE THAT SOMEONE DEVISE A CREATIVE, PEOPLE-CENTERED APPROACH TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. IN 2014, THE GUYS BEGAN AN INTIMATE IN-PERSON SUPPORT MEETING AND ATTENDANCE HOVERED AROUND 5 OR 6 BRAVE SOULS WHO'D DARE COME TO SUCH AN EVENT. MAY 4, 2015 IN AN ATTEMPT TO AMPLIFY THE EFFORTS OF THE SUPPORT GROUP, THE FOUNDERS DEVELOPED THE UNDETECTABLES SUPPORT MODEL. THE UNDETECTABLES SUPPORT MODEL IS A 3-TIERED APPROACH THAT COUPLES ONLINE 24- HOUR SUPPORT, WITH IN-PERSON TRADITIONAL SUPPORT AND SOCIAL SUPPORT, AS A WAY TO ASSIST THOSE LIVING WITH HIV IN ATTAINING VITAL RESOURCES WHILE BUILDING THEIR SOCIAL CAPITAL, SELF-AWARENESS, CONFIDENCE IN BOTH SELF AND COMMUNITY AND TO BUILD THEIR SKILLS AS HIV ADVOCATES. IN 4 YEARS, THRIVE HAS RECRUITED OVER 3,300 PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV INTO OUR NETWORKS. WE HAVE AIDED HIGH PREVALENCE JURISDICTIONS AROUND THE COUNTRY IN BEGINNING SIMILAR NETWORKS AND HAVE HELPED TO ESTABLISH A NETWORK IN ATLANTA FOR 300 BLACK WOMEN LIVING WITH THE VIRUS.THRIVE SS INC HAS HOSTED OVER 300 IN-PERSON SUPPORT GROUPS, COMMUNITY MEETINGS, EDUCATION EVENTS, FUNDRAISERS, HEALTH FORUMS, COMMUNITY BRUNCH DISCUSSIONS AND ARTISTIC EVENTS TOWARDS OUR VISION OF CREATING A NEW NARRATIVE OF LIVING WITH HIV. WE HAVE LINKED MORE THAN 3000 WOMEN, MEN AND TRANSGENDER INDIVIDUALS OF COLOR LIVING WITH HIV IN THE ATLANTA METROPOLITAN AREA TO THE SUPPORTIVE CARE THEY NEEDED. OUR SUPPORT SYSTEM PROVIDES MORE THAN 500 PEOPLE ADDITIONAL OPTIONS FOR FOOD THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH FEED THEE, INC., AND MIDWEST FOOD BANK AND RECENTLY OPENED A COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT CENTER IN EAST POINT, GEORGIA.
