IRS990/Desc0Exposure To Best Practices In 2022, the Northwest Diversity Learning Series (NWDLS), in its 24th annual year, continued to offer substantial, insightful, and economical educational programming on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to managers and employees of organizations across various sectors including for-profit companies, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and small businesses. In 2022, 628 people attended the six NWDLS sessions (an average of 122 people per session), however, 761 people registered for the sessions (an average of 160 people per session) who had access to the webinar recording if they were not able to attend the live webinar. Participants at each session received a comprehensive learning workbook tailored to the session's topic. ISDI also posted a wide-range of resources on our website after each session, encouraging people to continue their learning: https://i4sdi.org/2022-series-resources/World-Class Presenters and WorkshopsThe 2022 NW Diversity Learning Series, focused by its theme, "Calling BS: Rejecting Lip Service, Demanding Accountability for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion," presented six compelling, 2.5 hour bi-monthly learning workshops with world-class presenters each contributing deep insights to accountability: Jan. 27, 2022: Jevin West and Carl Bergstrom (professors at the University of Washington) presented "Fact or Fiction: Learning How to Challenge DEI Data," offering tools to critically analyze DEI data. Mar. 24, 2022: Dax Devlon Ross discussed "The Great Stagnation: Accountability is More Than a Hashtag," exploring historical and current challenges in DEI and paths to greater accountability. May 25, 2022: Dr. Deb L. Morrison and Chris Cameron (environmental scientists) led "Environmental & Climate Justice: Solving Deadly Hidden Outcomes in the Land, Water, & Air," addressing the interplay of climate action and justice. June 29, 2022: Michael Bach's session, "From Invisible to Targeted to Safe: Become an Ally for LGBTQIA+ Employees," provided insights into LGBTQIA+ inclusion from an international perspective. Sept. 29, 2022: Wanda Savage-Moore's "Creating Safe Spaces: Transformative Conversations on Race & Equity" explored the importance of Polarity Thinking in accountability. Nov. 10, 2022: Jennie Marie Durn's "Untold Stories: Surmounting the Disinformation of Native American Legacies" brought a critical view of diversity and equity compliance in various sectors.Engagement and NetworkingThe NWDLS facilitated networking among participant companies and organizations, serving as a vital link for sharing practices and building connections in DEI across Seattle and other regional areas. In 2022, 27 Sponsor and Subscriber companies and organizations participated along with additional individual participants from 26 other organizationa. With sessions now being virtual, the geographic reach has extended beyond the Puget Sound region in Washington State to several other regions and states including Florida, Indiana and Missouri. MeasurementWe measure participants' knowledge and competency by using the Kirkpatrick Level II evaluation model, which asks for the participants to report their knowledge and competency on the learning objectives, both before and after the training. The Kirkpatrick model is recognized by the training and development profession. The overall increase in self-knowledge from the pre-assessment to the post-assessment for all six sessions in 2022 was 64.6 percent. The session that achieved the highest increase in knowledge was Session Five: "Creating Safe Spaces: Transformative Conversations on Race & Equity" at 108.3 percent. The second highest increase in knowledge was Session Two: "The Great Stagnation: Accountability is More Than a Hashtag" at 93.2 percent. Generally, an increase in knowledge and competency of 25 percent, between the pre-and post-assessment, is considered a good result, so these two sessions far exceeded that level.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Professional DevelopmentThe D&I and HR Leaders Group continued as a crucial resource for DEI and HR leaders and practitioners. In addition to attending the 2022 NW Diversity Learning Series sessions to develop their DEI competencies, they also participate in six afternoon sessions with the presenter of the morning Series sessions where they share effective strategies, address challenges in the DEI space, and network with their peers. These afternoon sessions served 100 people across six sessions. In addition, ISDI provided the D&I and HR Leaders Group two strategic thinking meetings in 2022. The first was led by Effenus Henderson, Barbara Deane, Stefani Coverson and Joe Marth on the topic of how to bring evidence-based data to DEI organizational change work, and the second was led by Celine Anelone Brozovich and Dr. Kevin Clay, on the topic of Lifestyle Medicine. These meetings underscore ISDI's commitment to offering impactful professional development programming for this leadership group.ISDI also meets with its Sponsors and Subscribers in two summer meetings to plan the following year's NW Diversity Learning Series. These are critical meetings to ensure the relevancy of the Series sessions to employers' workplace issues.
