“The following categories of individuals are eligible for active membership in the Society:Ex-Residents: Ophthalmic physicians and surgeons who served a residency in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital and received a certificate from Wills Eye Hospital signifying satisfactory completion of that residency.Ex-Fellows: Ophthalmic physicians and surgeons who served either a Clinical or Research Fellowship in one of the Sub-specialty Services of Wills Eye Hospital for at least one year, and received a certificate from Wills Eye Hospital signifying satisfactory completion of that fellowship.Staff and Ex-Staff: Ophthalmic physicians and surgeons who are or were formerly members of the Active Staff of Wills Eye Hospital and who engage or engaged in significant teaching or research as members of the Active Staff of Wills Eye Hospital.Inactive: An individual who was an active member but (a) discontinued the practice of ophthalmology for reasons other than retirement or disability or (b) failed to pay dues and assessments levied by the Society. Emeritus: An individual who was an active member by who discontinued the practice of ophthalmology because of retirement or disability.Honorary: An individual (physician or non-physician) who does not meet the criteria for active membership by who has supported or enhanced the art and practice of ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital, or served the Society in a noteworthy ancillary or supporting role.”

The Society is in continuous communication with the Board of Directors of Wills Eye Hospital regarding the Society's role in supporting the residency program at Wills Eye Hospital. |
