THEIR EFFORTS IN THE DISTRICT 2 RACE LED TO THE ELECTION OF SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER MARIA SALAMANCA, THE ONLY LATINA ELECTED AND THE FIRST LGBTQ MEMBER IN THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL BOARD. WE HARNESSED MEDIA RELATIONSHIPS TO EDUCATE VOTERS IN SPANISH ON THREE AMENDMENTS ON THE BALLOT. THESE INCLUDED PROPERTY TAXES AND FLOODING, ABOLISHING THE STATE CONSTITUTIONAL REVISION COMMISSION, AND HOME TAX EXEMPTIONS FOR SOME PUBLIC WORKERS. WHILE IN GEORGIA, OUR EFFORTS IN GEORGIA WERE PART OF THE MOBILIZATION OF LATINO VOTERS. THE RESULTING MARGINS WERE SLIM, BELOW THE 50 VOTE TOTAL REQUIREMENT, AND THE RACE FOR U.S. SENATOR WENT TO A RUN-OFF. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE MIDTERM ELECTION, WE RAPIDLY MOBILIZED OVER 200K LATINO VOTERS IN THE”

OUR OUTREACH RESULTED IN THE RE-ELECTION OF REPRESENTATIVE HORSFORD OF CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 4, WHICH WAS CREATED AS A RESULT OF THE 2010 CENSUS. OUR MOBILIZATION OF LATINO VOTERS RESULTED IN THE TEXAS ELECTION OF THE ONLY LATINA MOTHER, COMMISSIONER LESLEY BRIONES, TO REPRESENT OUR COMMUNITY AS THE NEWLY ELECTED HARRIS COUNTY COMMISSIONER OF DISTRICT 4. OUR OUTREACH MAINTAINED COUNTY JUDGE LINA HIDALGOS POSITION, LEADING THE THIRD MOST POPULOUS COUNTY IN THE UNITED STATES. JUDGE HIDALGO IS THE FIRST LATINA AS WELL AS WOMAN TO BE ELECTED TO THIS OFFICE.”
