International Tibet Network

“The international tibet network is composed of 180 members, who are tibet related non-governmental organizations. These members elect members of its governing body, which is named the steering committee.”

“Members have the power to elect one or more representatives in their region (number depends on the region) to form the steering committee. Elections take place every two years. Members must approve changes to the constitution/by-laws or the mandate/mission of international tibet network.”

“Members' approval is required for any changes to the network's mandate or mission or by-laws. Annual budgets are approved by the steering committee.”

“International tibet network's form 990 is prepared by a certified public accountant based on information provided by the organization. The executive director and co-chair review the draft for completeness and accuracy. The draft is revised as necessary. The final form 990 is provided to the steering committee for their review prior to filing.”

“The organization does not enter into transactions with steering committee members or employees. Officers and steering committee members are required to sign a conflict of interest statement on an annual basis. Through out the year, the executive director reviews transactions and investigates any potential conflicts.”

“The executive director's salary is part of an overall salary budget approved for the next year by the steering committee at the annual general meeting. The executive director's salary remains unchanged from year to year unless there is an improvement in the organization's financial status. Then a special request is made to the board to review all salaries. The steering committee decision would take into account salaries paid by similar not-for-profit organizations.”
