“OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Solace partnered with the Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation to provide chickens for the biodynamic farm in Kathmandu, Nepal. This sustainable community is an eco village for the urban poor built on a former wasteland that feeds over 800 daily, a school, a water purification system that supplies over 60,000 gallons of purified water daily to several villages, a hospital and a recycling center that combines waste paper and sawdust to make heating briquettes. Homes are built from recycled glass bottles and cement. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Organic farm demonstration project located in Lake Worth, Florida. The farm serves several purposes; a open to the public farm that teaches about permaculture, sustainability and organic farming. The Solace farm serves as a model farm for sustainable organic agriculture that can be developed in the USA or abroad. All of the lessons learned abroad in our various projects are being utilized from water conservation to companion planting to permaculture.Many volunteers are working at the farm on a weekly basis, including high school students and other community members. Produce is donated to various local organizations such as food banks and other organizations serving the poor. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 6: Columbia Cottage Industry. Solace continues to work with the women of Cali to produce recycled, fair wage products. We provide them with the designs, materials, volunteers and market. The project is almost self sustaining at this point. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 7: Over the years, Solace International has done several projects in Liberia including construction and outfitting of three schools and composting latrines. Solace responded to the Ebola breakout in Monrovia to provide cleaning supplies, protective gear, educational flyers, food and safe drinking water to those people in affected areas. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 8: The earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, 2015, resulted in over 8,500 deaths and over half a million homes destroyed. Many families are living outside completely cutoff from aid by landslides. Solace has helped provide food, tarps, mats and everything needed for these families to survive.”
