Mission

The mission of the st paul's conservancy corp. Is to find a reasonable and affordable plan to save the historic st paul's building and to keep it under public control for public use. The organization has worked to develop actual plans for the restoration of the building, using architects and experts in adaptive re-use, and to promote those plans with the residents and leaders of the village of garden city through a process of community education and communciation.

The Committee to Save St Paul's is a group of private residents who have voluntarily joined to gether to ensure preservation of the St Paul's building and surrounding property for public use. In our view, St Paul's is a magnificent landmark structure that helps define the unique character of Garden City, contributes to its quality of life and enhances our property values.We believe that only public use of the building and surrounding fields is acceptable. This has been determined conclusively by the courts. Therefore, we are opposed to any solution other than public use. This means that we remain opposed to any plan that mixes public and private use.It is our befief that the best use of the building should be primarily for a new Library, utilizing the main space on the first and second floors of the structure. Secondarily, we believe that adjacent space within the first and second floors can be used for a variety of important community activities, such as the relocation of the senior r
