“The organization has delegates from affiliated unions, labor organizations, councils, the state union retiree council and associate membership organizations authorized by the afl-cio, each of whom have a voice and vote during the convention of the montana state afl-cio. Fraternal organizations are not entitled to vote at any time. An officer may vote only if he or she is a delegate representing an affiliated organization.”

“Board members and officers are elected for two-year terms. Board members shall be elected or appointed by their respective labor organization. The executive board shall be the executive officer or their appointee of each national/international union based on a per capita members (one board seat for each additional 5,000 members). Unions with multiple locations will caucus to appoint executive board members. Unions that are entitled to more than one board seat are encouraged to appoint members that reflect the diversity of members in the organization.”

“The form 990 has been prepared on the modified cash basis of accounting, which is a comprehensive basis of accounting other than generally accepted accounting principles. The organization's financial statements are modified from cash accounting because they include liabilities for deferred compensation, vehicle loans, capital leases, payroll taxes and benefits payable, and a provision for depreciation of property, equipment, and leasehold improvements.”
