“Zimkids Orphan Foundation (ZOF) provided a capacity grant totaling $156,512 to Zimkids Orphan Trust (ZOT) of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. ZOT has served the orphans of Pumula North, Mazwe, Robert Sinyoka and Methodist settlement for the past 20 years. The 2025 Foundation capacity grant included $20,300 to provide over 34,000 daily meals for 220 children. The grant also pays for clinic visits, ambulance services, medication and, on occasion, hospital costs. We also provide require regular monitoring for those children who are HIV positive. Since the main hospital providing anti-retroviral drugs is far away, ZOT pays for transport and, when the hospital runs out of their medication, our grant provides the funds to keep the children on their regimens. ZOT continues to operate a chicken project raising broiler chickens for extra source of food for our children and for sale to cover the costs of raising them. Four more laptops were added to our Tech center in 2025. Computer training funding covered the cost of their Internet, repairs, maintenance, hardware, and software. All 250 beneficiaries from age three to twenty-one receive computer training at their tech center. The ZOF remaining capacity grant also provides for ZOT facility maintenance, staffing allowances, supplies and general expenses, vehicle maintenance, fuel, insurance, and bank charges. The grant also covered the cost of a new vehicle which is essential to the operations of ZOT. Also included in the capacity grant was a grant of $8350 to cover the costs Higher education for six orphans at various universities and technical colleges in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Veterinary Nurse and Intensive Care Nurse education; Pharmacy Tech, One orphan who we sponsored through Rhodes University to become a registered Pharmacist graduated in 2025 and began work in 2026. He has taken over the costs from Zimkids of sending his brother to university. 15 of our orphans were sent for training in solar installations and are now working thanks to a former Zimkid who now owns his own solar business and hires only Zimkids once trained. Also Included in the capacity grant was a grant of $16,000 to cover the costs primary and secondary school fees for 52 students. Others were sent to courses for certification in domestic electrical wiring, catering, masonry and cell phone repair. We expect that our funds will benefit 11 people per beneficiary.”
