Mission and Program Overview

Mission

One mind is devoted to large-scale research on all diseases of the brain, which is unique in the marketplace. Unlike other major disease areas, such as cancer and heart disease, there is not an umbrella organization for the brain. One mind is in a strong position to move into that role. One mind has several advantages strong leadership, an established position in the scientific community as an advocate for revolutionizing collaboration, research and funding for mental illness and brain injury, and a demonstrated ability to convene diverse and key participants from science, government, and advocacy. Despite these, our greatest challenges today are securing the collaboration of governmental, corporate, scientific, and philanthropic communities in support of our open science principles, and fundraising. There is intense competition for funding; and currently, most goes to the research that is done in silos where data sharing is not mandated.
