“The Greater Yamhill Watershed Councils primary purpose is to work collaboratively with communities and landowners to develop and carry out voluntary watershed protection, restoration, enhancement, monitoring, and community engagement opportunities. Habitat Restoration: New restoration activities including removing invasive species and plating native vegetation along Hess Creek in Newberg, along a tributary in McMinnville, and within oak habitat near Carlton. Maintenance of previously completed restoration sites including oak savannah habitat in Yamhill area, 3 acres at the SWCDs Miller Woods Conservation property, and riparian areas along the Cozine Creek and tributaries in McMinnville. Habitat Monitoring: Continued assistance with the Yamhill Pesticide Stewardship Partnership Program, a long-term effort to identify and characterize water quality pollution related to pesticides in the Yamhill River Watershed, with special focus areas in Cozine Creek (urban) and Palmer Creek (agricultural). Continued coordination of Yamhill Fish Spawning Survey Program, a volunteer-led, long-term study of the distribution and abundance if salmonid spawning/rearing habitat and populations across the Yamhill River Watershed. Continued coordination of eDNA surveys in late summer to determine fish presence. Community Outreach & Education Partnered with local private, public, and tribal stakeholders to implement additional watershed projects, including roadside vegetation management projects with Yamhill County Public Works. Collaboration on aquatic invasive species removal and education with regional partners. Participation in policy efforts regarding Emerald Ash Borer as well as outreach and education events.”
