DescriptionGrantsExpenses
NAMC CONTINUES TO BE A VALUABLE RESOURCE FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN THE NORTHEAST REGION. OVER 200 INDIVIDUAL COMPANIES HAVE HIRED 393 NAMC TRAINING GRADUATES. FORTY (40) OF THESE COMPANIES MADE THEIR FIRST NAMC HIRE IN 2019. THIS LARGE GROUP OF HIRING MANUFACTURERS VALIDATES THE NAMC TRAINING PROGRAMS. THESE COMPANIES ALSO ENCOURAGED NAMC STAFF TO COORDINATE THE LARGEST, SIMULTANEOUS (OR OVERLAPPING) TRAINING EFFORT YET, INVOLVING ALL THE WORKFORCE BOARDS AND CAREER CENTERS PLUS 9 DIFFERENT TRAINING PARTNERS. NAMC DELIVERED TRAINING PROGRAMS IN PRECISION MACHINING, QUALITY, AND INDUSTRIAL WELDING TO 142 UN- AND UNDER-EMPLOYED ADULTS. WHILE SEVERAL 2019 GRADUATES ARE STILL BEING MATCHED TO JOBS, 107 HAVE ALREADY ENTERED EMPLOYMENT, A DOUBLING OF PLACEMENTS VERSUS THE PRIOR YEARLY AVERAGE. THIS GROWTH IN TRAINING NUMBERS WAS FUNDED BY EOHED GRANTS, DOL TECH HIRE GRANTS, AND A VARIETY OF SMALLER, FOCUSED GRANTS AWARDED TO OUR WORKFORCE BOARDS. NAMC STAFF ARE WORKING HARD TO MAKE THIS TRAINING SUSTAINABLE IN THE LONG TERM BY FILLING CLASSES USING A VARIETY OF FUNDING SOURCESOVER THE LAST 4 YEARS, NAMC, THROUGH MHNSWB WAS AWARDED A SERIES OF GRANTS TO FUND THE DEVELOPMENT OF 104 NEW MANUFACTURING REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIPS IN THE NORTHEAST REGION. AFTER A SOMEWHAT SLOW START OF 91 REGISTRATIONS DURING THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF THESE GRANTS, NAMC AND MHNWB (THE OFFICIAL SPONSOR) REGISTERED 71 ADDITIONAL APPRENTICES IN 2019. THESE NEW APPRENTICES WERE REGISTERED AT 10 DIFFERENT COMPANIES AND IN 9 DIFFERENT OCCUPATIONS. IN ALL, MHNSWB HAS REGISTERED 162 APPRENTICES (156% OF GOAL) AT 20 COMPANIES AND IN 13 DIFFERENT OCCUPATIONS. THE NEW OCCUPATIONS DEVELOPED IN 2019 ARE ILLUSTRATIVE OF MHNSWB'S AND NAMC'S ABILITY TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THE MODERN WORKFORCE SYSTEM. NAMC STAFF ARE WELL PREPARED TO DISCOVER THE SKILLS SETS NEEDED TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE IN MANUFACTURING PROCESSES AND CAN HELP COMPANIES UNDERSTAND THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES IN THEIR OWN TRAINING PROGRAMS. NAMC WORKED WITH SEVERAL COMPANIES TO DEVELOP NEW OCCUPATIONS - IN SOME CASES, MODERNIZED VERSIONS OF EXISTING TECHNICAL OCCUPATIONS.$0$158,788
